Mainz (dpa / lrs) - With tractor rallies, farmers in Rhineland-Palatinate are protesting today against parts of the federal government's planned action program for insect protection.

The insect protection package represents "a previously unknown encroachment by the Federal Environment Ministry on agricultural policy and agricultural law," criticize the farmers and winegrowers' association of Rhineland-Palatinate South (BWV) and the Association Land Creates Connection (LSV).

The balance of power between agricultural and environmental policy is shifting to the detriment of all farms.

The organizers announced rallies to Kaiserslautern, Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and Alzey.

According to this, several hundred tractors should take part in the demonstration under the motto “We can do better insect protection” in the morning.
