Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lni) - National coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg helps her long-time goalkeeper Almuth Schult with the comeback.

After a long injury and baby break, Schult will train from Monday to Friday next week with the German women's national team, which is preparing for the international matches against Belgium (February 21) and the Netherlands (February 24) in Düsseldorf.

However, Wolfsburg, who turned 30 on Tuesday, is not part of the squad for the two games.

«The invitation to the team was made in close consultation with VfL coach Stephan Lerch.

We want to see how far she is now, and we are happy to have her back with us after such a long time, "said Voss-Tecklenburg on Tuesday at an online press conference.

Schult had played her last game for the German national team in the lost World Cup round of 16 against Sweden (1: 2) on June 8, 2019.

At her home club VfL Wolfsburg, Schult is currently only number three after her return to training.

«We know about the situation.

What the future brings is of course also up to Almuth herself. She knows herself that she has to play and develop, ”said the national coach.

Schult receives a flat rate for childcare for courses to which she has to bring her twins.

«We want to bring everything together as best we can.

It should not fail because of her motherhood, ”said Voss-Tecklenburg.
