The Community of Madrid has activated this noon level 0 of the Winter Inclement Plan due to the forecast of snowfall in the Aemet region.
Specifically, thicknesses of five centimeters are expected at altitudes around 1,300 meters, and
thicknesses of about 20-30 centimeters at heights above 1,500 and 1,600 meters.
For these reasons, the Community of Madrid Emergency 112 has asked drivers in the Sierra de Madrid area to exercise extreme caution when taking private vehicles in light of the snowfall forecast between 9:00 p.m. today, February 9 and 09.00 hours tomorrow, February 10.
In an audio message sent to the media, Emergencias Comunidad de Madrid 112 has begged drivers
to "always carry the chains in the vehicle
and that of course they know how to mount them if necessary."
In addition, they have asked drivers to be accompanied by "warm clothing inside the car, a charged mobile battery and a full gas tank" and to moderate speed and exercise caution at all times.
