Dresden (dpa / sn) - The seven-day incidence in Saxony - i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days - has fallen back below the value of 100.

After falling just below this threshold on the weekend for the first time in months and was back in the three-digit range on Monday, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported a value of 91.3 on Tuesday.

This puts the Free State in fourth from last place in Germany.

Thuringia (134.9), Saarland (109.5) and Saxony-Anhalt (106.1) rank even behind Saxony.

According to the latest figures, the seven-day incidence nationwide is 72.8.

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, 185 140 people in Saxony had demonstrably been infected with the corona virus by Monday.

The number rose by 319 within one day. A total of 6885 people have died from or with the corona virus in the Free State so far.

There were 79 deaths within one day.

The number of those who have recovered is estimated at 169,250.
