After finding two bodies in the apartment of a 28-year-old in the Hamburg district of Bramfeld, the police assume that the man not only killed his 53-year-old mother, but also his ex-girlfriend.
The police ransacked the home after the mother did not return from visiting her son.
In the apartment, the officers discovered not only the 53-year-old who had been killed with multiple knife stabs, but another corpse, which could only now and not yet be finally identified.
The dead woman is said to be the 24-year-old.
The woman is said to have been killed several days earlier and has been lying in the apartment since then.
When the police came into the apartment, the body was in the bathtub.

"The dead person has not yet been identified one hundred percent," said senior prosecutor Nana Frombach, the public prosecutor's spokeswoman.
There is still no DNA comparison.
Nevertheless, the investigators are sure that it is the 24-year-old.
The relatives of the woman, who according to WELT information comes from North Rhine-Westphalia, have already been informed.
Corpse cut up?
So far there has been no official explanation as to why identifying the body is so difficult.
According to WELT information, the 28-year-old is said to have tried to dismember the body.
The public prosecutor's spokeswoman did not want to confirm this.
The investigators assume that the mother discovered the body on Sunday during her visit to the son's apartment and was therefore killed by the 28-year-old with several stab wounds.
"We assume that the 28-year-old wanted to prevent the homicide from becoming public," said Nana Frombach.
According to Mopo information, the mother is said to have lived with her partner in Pinneberg (Schleswig-Holstein) north of Hamburg.
When she did not return home, the man is said to have driven to the 28-year-old's apartment, discovered his partner's car in front of the house and called the police.
