Berlin (dpa) - Two weeks after their protests began in Berlin, farmers from several federal states pulled their tractors in front of the Federal Chancellery and the Reichstag.

On Tuesday they called for more appreciation for their work on banners and called on consumers to enter into dialogue.

Protests are also planned in the government district on Wednesday.

They are directed against the federal government's agricultural policy.

The focus is particularly on plans for insect protection, which the Federal Cabinet will discuss on Wednesday.

There were protests across Germany on Tuesday.

Farmers fear losses due to stricter requirements for the use of pesticides.

The farmers' protests in the capital have been running since the end of January.

There are daily tractor parades in Berlin-Mitte and so-called vigils, including in front of ministries.

Farmers are demanding regulations for cost-covering prices for their products and more domestic food in the trade.

Stricter guidelines such as fertilization should be suspended, corona and swine fever aid should flow immediately.

The initiators include the “Free Farmers” and “Land Creates Connection” initiatives.

The German Farmers' Association is also planning an action this Wednesday.

In front of the Federal Chancellery in the morning it should be pointed out that the planned insect protection law endangers peasant livelihoods.

The “Free Farmers” initiative is calling for a rally at the Brandenburg Gate at lunchtime under the motto “Solidarity with our farmers”.
