New measures, new reports and highlights: an update on the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic around the world.

- The transmitting animal not identified -

After four weeks of investigation in Wuhan, China, the team of Chinese experts and the World Health Organization announced that they had not discovered the origins of the pandemic, deeming the theory of a leak "highly improbable" of a laboratory.

Transmission of the coronavirus from a first animal and then a second before contamination to humans is the "most probable" hypothesis, the delegation said without being able to identify the original animal.

Experts did not find any indication of the presence of the virus until it emerged in December 2019.

- United Kingdom: 2 tests for travelers -

The UK plans to subject all travelers arriving in the country to two tests for Covid-19 after arrival to avoid importation of variants.

- Equatorial Guinea: first curfew -

Equatorial Guinea has introduced a first curfew from Tuesday 7:00 p.m., and closed bars, restaurants and nightclubs as well as limited the number of flights in its airports.

Very strict confinement had been imposed from April 15 to June 15 in this small oil country in Central Africa ruled without sharing for more than 41 years by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema.

- Launch of Iranian vaccination -

Iran is launching its vaccination campaign, state television said.

In addition to the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, the country is to receive Anglo-Swedish AstraZeneca vaccines via Covax, the device intended to supply the most disadvantaged countries.

With more than 58,500 dead, Iran is the country most affected by the pandemic in the Near and Middle East.

- Over 135 million doses -

More than 135 million doses of anti-Covid vaccines have been administered worldwide, according to a count made by AFP from official sources on Tuesday at 11:00 GMT.

To date, at least 90 countries or territories have started their vaccination campaign, but nearly two out of three doses (64%) have been injected in "high" income countries (as defined by the World Bank), which do not 'yet host only 16% of the world's population.

Outside of micro-states, Israel is by far the most advanced country, with 41% of its population having already received at least one dose.

In absolute terms, the United States is leading the way, with 42.4 million doses administered to 9.8% of its population.

- Nearly 2.35 million dead -

The new coronavirus pandemic has killed at least 2,325,744 people around the world since the end of December 2019, according to a report established by AFP from official sources Tuesday at 11:00 GMT.

After the United States (465,083 dead), the countries most affected are Brazil (232,170 dead), Mexico (166,731 dead), India (155,158 dead), and the United Kingdom (112,798 dead)

The number of victims is globally underestimated.

It is based on the daily reports of the national health authorities but excludes the ex post revisions carried out by statistical organizations as was the case in Russia, Spain and the United Kingdom.
