Magdeburg / Halle (dpa / sa) - Because of the persistent snowfall, there are restrictions on bus and rail traffic in Saxony-Anhalt.

The Magdeburg transport company has completely ceased operations, as a spokesman in Magdeburg announced on Monday.

Emergency operation with buses was initially planned for the night.

This was discontinued because several vehicles got stuck.

At first, the spokesman could not say when the trams and buses will be able to run again.

In Halle, the Hallesche Verkehrs-AG switched to emergency operation.

The traffic does not have to be completely stopped, said a spokeswoman.

A ring line of the tram runs, and rail replacement services with buses can also be partially offered.

There were also disabilities in local and long-distance transport for Deutsche Bahn.

Several trains were canceled completely, some S-Bahn trains were shortened.

According to the railway, delays are to be expected on Monday.
