Berlin (dpa) - According to Berlin's Governing Mayor Michael Müller, people need a prospect of possible loosening.

«We are in a critical phase.

On the one hand, the declining number of infections gives reason for hope, but the vague information and findings about the mutants are causing us great concern, ”said the chairman of the Ministerial Presidents' Conference (MPK) on Monday of the German Press Agency.

"We want and have to give people a perspective for possible easing steps, if the infection figures show this," said the SPD politician.

"I therefore expect from the federal-state switch on Wednesday that, despite the uncertainties, we can at least agree on a common framework plan, if possible linked to incidences and the utilization of our intensive care medicine," said Müller.

"As the MPK chairman country, we collected the ideas and suggestions of the last few days and weeks in Berlin and supplemented them with our own experiences and findings."

The lockdown to contain the corona pandemic is limited to February 14th.

On Wednesday, the country leaders want to talk to Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) about how to proceed with the corona measures afterwards.
