Düsseldorf (dpa / lno) - Holstein Kiel has won the top game in the 2nd Bundesliga.

With the 2-0 (1-0) success at their direct competitor Fortuna Düsseldorf, the “Storks” regained third place on Monday evening.

Alexander Mühling (36th minute / penalty kick) and Jae-Sung Lee (47th) shot the extremely self-confident guests, who are the only professional team in Germany to be undefeated away this season, to success.

The team of coach Ole Werner, which has been undefeated for five competitive games, impressively saved the chance to become the first Bundesliga club from Schleswig-Holstein in the summer.

The Bundesliga relegated from Düsseldorf, who says he wants to get promoted, was clearly nervous after the embarrassing 1: 2 at bottom of the table Würzburg.

Without midfield engine Alfredo Morales, who had been out for a short time due to muscular problems, the Rhinelander rarely developed pressure.

Neither team had any problems with the adverse weather conditions in the Rhineland.

They were spared the hours of snowfall inside the arena with the roof closed.

This saved them the icy outside temperatures of ten degrees Celsius below zero.

Fortuna's defense chief Kevin Danso would have needed further cooling.

After an uneventful first half hour, the Austrian went to work against Kiel's Janni Serra in the penalty area, who liked to use the light touch to fall.

Referee Sören Storks gave the penalty that you didn't have to whistle.

Mühling transformed serenely.

With the happy lead in the back, Kiel played even more confidently after the break and increased decisively early on.

Kiel's South Koreans Lee made it 2-0.

Fortuna had two more chances to come back through Kenan Karaman (70th) and Thomas Pledl (79th).

But Holstein striker Janni Serra missed the best opportunity in the second half in the 74th minute.
