Mannheim (dpa / lsw) - After a serious traffic accident in Mannheim, an eight-year-old boy died of his serious injuries.

According to the police on Monday, the child died in the hospital after two cars crashed in an accident on Sunday evening.

As a police spokesman said, the family of the child who was killed was in one of the cars.

While the 35-year-old mother and two-year-old daughter were uninjured, a 10-year-old boy was seriously injured and the 38-year-old father was slightly injured.

The occupants of the other vehicle were therefore uninjured.

According to initial investigations, two cars collided at an intersection in the Lutzenberg district for an initially unexplained cause.

As a police spokesman said on Monday, it is now being determined whether a red light may not have been observed.

“Of course, it is also examined whether there was a technical defect, said the police spokesman.
