Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - The spread of the corona virus has lost some of its momentum in Saxony-Anhalt.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health reported 115 new infections and twelve deaths.

On Monday last week, the ministry had registered 189 new infections and 37 deaths.

116.28 out of 100,000 residents of Saxony-Anhalt were verifiably infected in the past seven days.

This so-called seven-day incidence, which is decisive for politics, was 167.49 a week ago in Saxony-Anhalt.

As before, the different parts of the country are affected to very different degrees by the spread of the virus.

The seven-day incidence on Monday in the Stendal district was only 49.46 and in the state capital Magdeburg only slightly higher at 51.35.

The federal and state governments are striving for permanent values below 50 in order to be able to track the infections and not to overload the health system.

The Burgenland district again had the highest value on Monday (276.77), although a decline can also be observed there.

At the weekend the value in the Burgenland district had fallen below the 300 mark.
