In an interview with CBS on the 7th, Biden said that Iran must stop increasing the concentration of enriched uranium before the United States can lift sanctions.

As long as Iran does not abide by the Iran nuclear agreement, he will not lift US sanctions on Iran.

Iran’s supreme leader Khamenei said on the 7th local time that only when the United States lifts sanctions on Iran and Iran’s verification and confirmation, Iran can re-comply with the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue.

According to the news agency of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Khamenei said when he met with the Iranian Air Force officers and soldiers in Tehran that day, Iran only recognized the practical actions taken by the US to lift sanctions, not the content of "words and papers." This is a clear policy of Iran and will not change.

Khamenei also said that the United States and some European countries have violated their commitments to the Iran nuclear agreement and have no right to set conditions for the continued operation of the Iran nuclear agreement.

In July 2015, Iran reached a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany.

According to the agreement, Iran promised to limit its nuclear program and the international community lifted sanctions against Iran.

In May 2018, the US government unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear agreement, and subsequently restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iran.

The other signatories to the agreement tried to keep the agreement valid.

Since May 2019, Iran has gradually suspended the implementation of certain provisions of the Iran nuclear agreement, but promised that the measures taken are "reversible."

Tehran refused to negotiate while US sanctions are still in effect.

The Iranian parliament passed a bill in December 2020, requiring the government to further break through the restrictions of the Iran nuclear agreement without discovering the “loosening” of sanctions against Iran.

The bill clearly stipulates a series of measures such as the production and storage of a certain abundance of enriched uranium, and the installation of various types of centrifuges and the implementation time limit.

Iran announced on January 4 that it had begun to implement measures to increase the enriched uranium abundance to 20% at the Fordo nuclear facility.
