Hamm (dpa) - The storm-related truck driving ban on the highways in Westphalia and southern Lower Saxony will be extended until Monday noon at 12 noon.

The reason is the persistent snowfall, announced the Westphalia motorway on Sunday evening.

In addition, some motorways are so iced up that it is currently impossible to get the lanes completely free of ice and snow.

The driving ban was ordered in the night from Saturday to Sunday, initially in the administrative districts of Detmold and Münster, and later also in the administrative district of Arnsberg.

According to its own information, the winter service center of the Westphalia Autobahn in Hamm does not expect the weather to calm down significantly before Monday noon.
