Mali ended the match with 10 players after defender Isaka Samaki was sent off after a violent foul against Bamomer, to receive the second warning after using the video assistant referee.

Morocco won the championship, which is held with the participation of players associated with clubs inside the continent, at home in 2018 at the expense of Nigeria, while Mali lost the final for the second time after 2016.

This is the fifth edition of the tournament, which started in 2009, and Morocco won two titles, such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, while Libya won one title.
