07 February 2021 Waiting for the meeting of the social partners with the prime minister in charge Mario Draghi, Maurizio Landini, general secretary of the CGIL, specifies, guest of Lucia Annunziata's broadcast on Rai 3 'In half an hour more', which dialogue with the government will be set up precisely on the issues of work to make fundamental decisions on the future of workers.

Starting with the extension of the redundancy freeze, social safety nets and tax reform.

"We want to put work back at the center, and also the quality of the work itself," says Landini.

"Enough with precariousness".

Redundancy block or social bomb

Landini insists on the need for a reform of the social safety nets and specifies the position of the CGIL: "We do not simply want an extension of the redundancy block for all but we want a reform of the social safety nets system, which is a system valid for all and which differences between the various activities ".

And then: "Before seeing how it ends, I would play the game of extending the redundancy block. We are still in full pandemic and there have been many differences in the various production sectors, there are sectors such as services and tourism that are on your knees. Let's say it takes a month to reform the social safety nets. And there you need to have a vision and you need to protect those workers and companies if you don't want a social bomb. We agree with Draghi on one thing: enough with the policy of incentives, we need active policies for work.

The message to be given is to protect the workers

. Citizenship income? We have been critical. We have always said that it was a tool to fight poverty, but not an active policy for work ".

Landini has been insisting for some time that

the system does not work if those who work are poor

: "If a person who works is poor, it means that the system does not work. We must give dignity to work", a theme that is strongly proposed by the leader of the CGIL in view of talks with Draghi.

Tax, no flat tax but progressive taxation

"I want to be clear: if someone comes to propose the Flat tax does not find me available, I say it before I hear it. We are not available to pay three times. I do not say that I am not ready to make sacrifices, but I want the rights on the labor front to be recognized ", explained Landini.

"Tax reform must benefit the world of work and its rights. What do I have to lose more than what I have already lost? We need to win a new Workers' Statute, I claim the need to change".

"I am not afraid of what the Draghi government may cut - added Landini - but

I want to participate in the change of the country

" and taxation on labor cannot be raised.

Rather, he adds, "the tax system needs to be handled again not in the idea that everyone pays less, but that everyone pays according to what they have".

"I criticized the previous government when it stopped, when it no longer listened to us. I want to be involved in the rebirth and development of the country, if things need to be cut, certainly not on dependent work, certainly not in the world of work. .

Enough precariousness

because women and young people have paid a very high price - continued Landini -. It is right to reconsider the tax system, but not in the idea that everyone pays less, but in the idea that everyone pays by fighting tax evasion . Everyone has to pay according to what they have and their ability to pay. The assets? We are in favor of an overall reform ".
