Fürth (dpa) - Led by double goal scorer Branimir Hrgota, SpVgg Greuther Fürth has temporarily climbed back to third place in the 2nd Bundesliga.

After losing the last 16 in the DFB Cup during the week at Werder Bremen on Sunday, the team of coach Stefan Leitl won their third league win in a row in a 4-1 (1-1) win against the Würzburger Kickers.

Holstein Kiel can still overtake Fortuna Düsseldorf with a three-point in Monday's game.

Bottom line Würzburg had its offensive moments, but made too many mistakes in defense.

In the debut of new signing Rajiv van la Parra, the half-brother of Liverpool's Georginio Wijnaldum, Ridge Munsy even put the Kickers in the lead in the 15th minute after a failed excursion by goalkeeper Sascha Burchert.

Dickson Abiama (28) from Fürth benefited from a failed header return from Christian Strohdiek.

Captain Hrgota (50th, 80th penalty kick) decided the game after the break with his second brace in a row.

His 3-1, however, was preceded by a controversial penalty whistle after a supposed foul by keeper Hendrik Bonmann on Jamie Leweling.

Robin Kehr (87th) made the final point after a solo.
