Wesseling (dpa / lnw) - An allegedly drunk driver got off the road in Wesseling near Cologne on Sunday and drove against two pedestrians on a sidewalk.
A few meters further he crashed his car head-on into a tree, as the police of the Rhein-Erft district reported.
The two pedestrians, a man (58) and a woman (57), were seriously injured - as were the 57-year-old driver and his 39-year-old passenger.
When the accident was recorded, there were indications that the driver was intoxicated.
The officers therefore arranged for a blood sample to be taken in the hospital and secured the driver's license.
The «Bild» newspaper had previously reported.
