US President Joe Biden announced, in an interview broadcast yesterday, that he will not lift the sanctions imposed on Iran as long as Tehran does not respect its obligations in the nuclear file, while Iran stipulated that the US sanctions imposed on it be lifted before it resumes its obligations under the agreement.

In response to a question by "CBS" about the possibility of lifting sanctions to persuade Tehran to return to the negotiating table with the aim of saving the nuclear agreement, Biden replied: "No," and when the network asked him whether the Iranians should "first halt uranium enrichment", he shook his head positively. .

On the other hand, the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, said yesterday that Iran is the only party that is entitled to set certain conditions related to the nuclear agreement, stressing that his country will not resume its obligations under the agreement before the lifting of the economic sanctions, which the United States re-imposed on Tehran, After Washington’s decision to withdraw from it.

Khamenei said in a televised speech while receiving military commanders: "If they want Iran to return to its nuclear deal obligations, the United States should lift the sanctions completely, not just in words or on paper."

He added, "After that, we will investigate, to feel that the sanctions have actually been lifted, and then we will return to our obligations under the agreement" known as the "Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action."

And Khamenei added, "Iran is the only party that has the right to set certain conditions related to the nuclear agreement, because it respected its obligations, unlike the United States and the three European countries, which did not implement any of these pledges contained in the agreement."

In another context, Biden confirmed, during the interview with "CBS", that the rivalry between the United States and China would take the form of "maximum competition", while stressing that he wanted to avoid any conflict between the two largest economic powers.

Biden said that he had not yet spoken to his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, noting that there was "no reason not to contact him," and attacked him, saying that he "does not enjoy any iota of democracy," according to his description.
