The Green Bay Packers have failed again in their quest for the Superbowl, but their iconic quarterback Aaron Rodgers was voted the third time in his career as the Professional American Football League (NFL) Player of the Season, the NFL announced on Saturday. on the eve of the final between Kansas City and Tampa Bay.

Rodgers, 37, delivered the best season of his career since making his NFL debut in 2005 with 48 touchdown passes for just five interceptions.

Under his leadership, the Packers finished the regular season with the best record in the NFL (13 wins and three losses), but the Wisconsin franchise failed in the conference final to Tom Brady's Buccaneers (lost 31-26).

Rodgers was previously named the NFL's Best Player (MVP) in 2011 and 2014 and once won the Super Bowl, the supreme American football title, in February 2011 with the Packers, his team since making their NFL debut.

“To win this (MVP) title in my 13th season as a starting quarterback is something very special, plus with a new offensive lineup, it's something I'm very proud of,” he said.

The Californian by birth joins a closed club of players who have been crowned at least three times MVP including Jim Brown (3), Johnny Unitas (3), Peyton Manning (5) and Tom Brady (4).
