Mellrichstadt (dpa / lby) - A 16-year-old was seriously injured in an escalated dispute in an accommodation for asylum seekers in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld.

The police are investigating an attempted homicide against the victim's roommate.

In the course of the dispute in Mellrichstadt, the 23-year-old Afghan hit the youth's head so hard that he had to be taken to a special clinic with severe head injuries, the police and public prosecutor reported on Sunday.

The alleged perpetrator hit the 16-year-old's skull with both fists and knees for several minutes on Saturday evening.

The 23-year-old was provisionally arrested.

By order of the Schweinfurt public prosecutor's office, he was brought before the investigating judge on Sunday, who ordered custody.

According to his first own statements, the 23-year-old acted with intent to kill.

The 16-year-old even has to expect hearing loss due to the serious injuries.
