Suhl (dpa / th) - VfB Suhl's Bundesliga volleyball players have won their home game against NawaRo Straubing 3-0 (25:17, 25:23, 25:21).

In the duel between the neighbors in the table, the seventh-placed guests from Bavaria were at a loss from the start.

At first, they had little to counter the constant pressure that VfB captain Claudia Steger in particular exerted in an external attack and the American Danielle Harbin in a diagonal attack.

It was only in the second set that Straubing's coach Benedikt Frank's team adjusted to the Suhl game better and made the game much more balanced.

Since the Suhler pillars like Steger and Harbin no longer scored as before and Straubing was now characterized by better positional play in the block, the guests were able to make up a 10:15 deficit and later even take the lead with 20:19.

But Steger and Harbin found their way back to their old strength in time.

In the third set, the guests initially took the lead 9: 6.

Suhl's head coach Laszlo Hollosy was forced to take a break.

But as hard as his team tried afterwards, Straubing held out strongly, defusing the Suhl attacks mainly with his block.

Only when VfB outside attacker Agnes Pallag came to serve, Suhl was able to equalize.

It was reserved for Claudia Steger to provide the first match ball, which VfB immediately converted.
