WELT AM SONNTAG:

Mr. Chancellor, Austria will relax the contact restrictions on Monday.

Shops, museums and schools open again.

On the other hand, there are still around 1500 new infections per day instead of the 700 you asked for.

Why are you still loosening up?

Sebastian Kurz:

We didn't make the decision easy for ourselves and we proceed extremely cautiously.

We are not only taking cautious steps towards opening up, but at the same time have made some massive tightenings, for example with regard to immigration.

Anyone who goes to school must first take a test there in the morning, the same applies to anyone who wants to visit the hairdresser, for example.

But we are fully aware that our policy of cautious opening may also lead to an increase in the number of infections.

WELT AM SONNTAG:

How can you then relax?
