Posh Spice, a Limousine cow raised in the UK, broke a world price record for her breed.

It was sold for 262,000 pounds (299,000 euros) at auction on January 29, doubling the British and European record price for the species.

Named after the nickname Victoria Beckham, a member of the famous music group Spice Girls, the heifer was raised in Shropshire (central England).

She comes from a line of record-holding cows.

Her mother, Milbrook Gingerspice, was also named after a Spice Girl.

An “incredible achievement” through this sale

According to the BBC, her breeder Christine Williams said selling Posh Spice was like "winning the lottery".

This one-year-old red cow is “smart and elegant”, she says.

In a statement, the British Limousin Cattle Society, a company of Limousin cow breeders, highlights the "dazzling appearance" and "pedigree" of Posh Spice, which helped raise the auction.

It is an "incredible achievement", said the secretary of the company, hailing "a fantastic success not only for the breeders but also for the breed itself".
