November 23, 2018High tension in France on the eve of the demonstration organized by the yellow vests in Paris.

A man wearing the jacket-symbol of the protest against the diesel tax increase wanted by Emmanuel Macron, barricaded himself in the car wash adjacent to a shopping center in Angers, in the west of the country, claiming to be in possession of a grenade and threatening to detonate it if it was not received by the president.

In the area, immediately manned by the police, bomb squads and leather heads arrived for a very long negotiation while the author of the gesture declared that he had then defused the grenade, reassuring about the risks of his gesture.

Interior Minister Christophe Castaner confirmed that the man, probably already known to law enforcement for drug trafficking, showed the "explosive grenade" he was in possession of.

More cautious, the prefect, Yves Gambert, who limited himself to speaking of "an object that looks like a tear gas grenade".

In any case, all civilians were evacuated for safety reasons and the nearby exits of the A87 motorway were closed.
