The person who has been missing since Saturday morning after the collapse of a building blown by an explosion, probably due to gas, in the center of Bordeaux, was found dead by the emergency services, the Gironde prefecture told AFP.

The victim was 88 years old.

The firefighters, guided by their dogs, were able to "locate" shortly before 4:00 p.m. the woman missing since the collapse of a building in Bordeaux on Saturday morning.

The victim was 88 years old and she showed "no sign of life" when she was found by the emergency services, said the lieutenant-colonel of the Gironde firefighters Philippe Esselin.

The old lady is the companion of the 89-year-old man found seriously injured after the explosion.
