The executive has set itself the goal of having vaccinated all adult volunteers in the summer.

A political bet that the opposition says impossible to win and that its supporters fear to see him lose.

But the Head of State keeps his promise: "It is a motivating objective", explains his Prime Minister.

DECRYPTION

The executive promises it: in the summer, all French adult volunteers will be vaccinated against Covid-19.

But Emmanuel Macron is expected at the turn.

"François Hollande fell on his promises of reversing the unemployment curve. Macron will fall on his vaccine promises," confided an opposition leader this week.

On the executive side, we put things into perspective.

"As long as the deliveries of vaccines are done regularly, the bet is not so risky", pleads a minister.

To meet the challenge, Emmanuel Macron relies on a sustained supply.

The Elysée therefore maintains maximum pressure on the industry.

France, like Europe, has also set up new production sites.

"It's a motivating goal"

But beyond the figures, this announcement by the president has a specific objective, as Prime Minister Jean Castex explained on Thursday in a small committee: the president is there to put the machine under tension.

"It is a motivating objective, it offers prospects", explains the head of government peacefully.

CORONAVIRUS ESSENTIALS

> The English variant would cause slightly different symptoms

> Not recommended for people over 65, who will be injected with the AstraZeneca vaccine?

> Audio, webcams ... When technology adapts to teleworking

> Containment is good for the planet

> How will the vaccination passport work in Denmark?

A voluntarism which still gives a few cold sweats to another minister.

"With this promise, politically, we are a little at the mercy of pharmaceutical companies", he worries.

One thing is certain, 15 months from a presidential election there are promises on which a president cannot fail.

Vaccination against Covid-19 is one of them.
