Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Because of the expected heavy onset of winter in parts of Germany, the railway advises against travel by train that is not absolutely necessary at the weekend in NRW.

Impairments can also be expected in regional traffic in North Rhine-Westphalia.

"We recommend that you only take the train when you need it," announced the company.

"In the event of bad weather and bad road conditions, an emergency bus service cannot be guaranteed."

The mobility guarantee, which otherwise applies to passengers in regional traffic in North Rhine-Westphalia, does not apply from Sunday due to the storm.

For example, if you can no longer get to your destination by train, you cannot change to a taxi at the expense of the train as usual.

As a precaution, some long-distance connections had already been closed in northern Germany on Saturday.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, however, only the intercity connection from Münster to Norddeich Mole was affected.
