Mainz (dpa / lrs) - In Rhineland-Palatinate, 187 new corona infections were registered within one day.

Overall, the number of proven cases since the outbreak of the pandemic rose to 95,414, as the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Health announced on Saturday in Mainz (as of 11.10 a.m.).

Seven other people died with or from Covid-19 - this increased the number of deaths related to the disease to 2725. The number of new infections within the past seven days per 100,000 inhabitants was 60.1 nationwide.

Because of the weekend, however, not all health authorities reported numbers, it said.

On Saturday (as of 2:19 p.m.), 176 people were being treated for Covid-19 in the intensive care units in Rhineland-Palatinate, 80 of whom were ventilated.

Of the 1,079 operable intensive care beds in the country's hospitals, 248 were free.

This corresponds to around 23 percent of the free intensive care beds.
