Seven German victories in eight World Cup races - the German bobsleigh pilots are all in the circle of favorites at the home World Cup in Altenberg.

Defending champion Kaillie Humphries from the USA, who previously celebrated two Olympic victories for Canada, is a top favorite.

But Pyeongchang Olympic champion Mariama Jamanka, junior world champion Laura Nolte, last year's World Cup runner-up Kim Kalicki are just as good for medals as Stephanie Schneider on her home track.

Especially in the start area, the German sledges and their crews ride in world class.

But a lot can happen in four runs in two days.

On the last weekend before the World Championships in Cortina, the speed aces will face the endurance test on the Kandahar.

At the home event, the German starters want to attack the top spots again.

Last year's winner Thomas Dreßen drove down a World Cup slope for the first time after his hip surgery on Thursday in training.

However, the Upper Bavarian will not start on Friday because he is not yet competitive and does not want to take any risks in front of Cortina.

The hopes rest on others, especially the formally strong Romed Baumann and Andreas Sander.
