Seffer Weich (dpa / lrs) - A single-engine airplane crashed near Seffer Weich in the Bitburg-Prüm district.

As the police announced on Friday, the pilot could only be rescued dead.

The officers found the wreck at noon on the open ground between the villages of Seffersehen and Staffelstein.

According to the information, the debris field extended over several hundred meters.

Nothing is known about the origin of the machine and the cause of the crash.

The identity of the pilot, who was alone in the plane, has not yet been determined.

The investigation continued, the crash site was cordoned off.

Investigators from the criminal police and the Federal Office for Air Traffic Control investigated the cause of the crash.
