Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Despite a delay in the final work, Autobahn GmbH and Bundesplanungsgesellschaft Deges want to celebrate the completion of the noise protection tunnel on Autobahn 7 in Hamburg-Stellingen on Friday.

The Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport, Enak Ferlemann (CDU), and Hamburg's Senator for Transport Anjes Tjarks (Greens) are expected.

The original plan was to open the tunnel completely on Monday morning after the motorway was completely closed.

The project was canceled because of the winter weather.

Marking work is not possible in snowfall and frost, said a spokeswoman for the Autobahn GmbH.

It is now expected that motorists will only be able to drive through both tubes of the almost 900-meter-long tunnel from March.

They currently only have one tube available.
