The European diplomat congratulated Russia on the invention of an effective vaccine against COVID-19 and said that it would be "useful for all mankind" in the fight against the pandemic.

“I hope that now the European Medicines Agency will be able to certify this vaccine for use in EU member states,” Borrell said at a press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.

According to him, "Sputnik V" will be good news for Europe, since the EU lacks vaccines and "an additional source of their supply is only welcome."

On February 2, the scientific journal The Lancet published the results of the third phase of clinical trials of the Sputnik V vaccine, confirming its high efficiency.

Later, the RDIF said that the Russian vaccine could be approved for use in the EU in March, the fund submitted the necessary documents.
