The ambulance staff believes that it now happens more often that the rescue service does not go out on traffic accidents if there is no clear need for rescue service.

This has led to the ambulance staff being able to manage without help to control the traffic.

This has resulted in four deviation reports about the risk of being hit when they themselves tried to help injured people.

- It can be dangerous at any time.

We are deeply concerned about this, says Anders Olsson who is the safety representative for the ambulance staff in Dalarna.

"Has no work environment responsibility for ambulance personnel"

Bergslagen Rescue Region, RRB, states that they follow the law on protection in the event of accidents and then traffic accidents are not automatically to be regarded as rescue services, but there must be a pronounced need in connection with the alarm.

If a dubious situation arises, the RRB's internal commander can decide the matter.

- We have no work environment responsibility for the ambulance staff, but they must solve this in their own organization in the regions.

There are also other actors who can help, such as the police and the Swedish Transport Administration, says Anders Lasses who alternately works as an internal commander for RRB and in between serves as operative manager in his own home fire brigade in Leksand.

Responsible for 42 municipalities

Anders Lasses believes that they do not interpret the law more strictly now than before RRB was formed.

- We would rather go once too much than once too little if there are doubtful situations, he says.

RRB's internal commander is located in Örebro and is responsible for the rescue service in 42 municipalities in Dalarna, Västmanland, Örebro, Värmland and Västra Götaland counties.

- There is also a difficulty in the ambulance and rescue service within RRB in some cases being alerted from various SOS centers, which makes it more difficult with communication, says Anders Lasses.
