Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Around two weeks after the corona-related compulsory break, Airbus is putting its fourth and most modern final assembly line for A320 aircraft in Hamburg-Finkenwerder back into operation on Monday.

"The hygiene concept for the entire location was checked and approved with a view to the new findings in view of the mutations," said a spokesman for the German press agency on Friday.

A good two weeks ago, 21 employees at Airbus tested positive for the corona virus and the more infectious British mutation was found in seven cases.

500 employees were then sent to quarantine or domestic isolation, and production on the fourth assembly line was stopped.

"Our employees return to their workplaces after consultation with their responsible health department," said the spokesman.

Airbus has also decided to offer all employees returning from quarantine or domestic isolation to be tested voluntarily before starting work.

The standstill on the fourth final assembly line had no effect on the production itself, said the spokesman.

The assembly of the A320 family aircraft, which had already been reduced to 40 aircraft per month due to the corona pandemic, could be distributed to the other lines.

With more than 12,000 employees, Airbus is Hamburg's largest industrial employer.
