In the United States, 6.4 million people have already received their 2 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

In Texas, it's 560,000 people, but at the current rate, it will take another 1.5 to 2 years for the 23 million adults in that state to be vaccinated.

The fault is on the vaccine supply.

On average, 97,000 doses are injected each day in Texas.

A figure well below the needs.

Marah Short, is Associate Director of the Center for Health and Biosciences Research at the University of Houston Rice,

“

Texas is among the last in terms of vaccination percentage, yet we are one of the states most affected by the epidemic, and yet we are receiving a low number of doses of vaccines.

 "

And according to the professor, it is also very complicated to get vaccinated.

It's really a frustrating procedure, because you have to go to each vaccination center to get on their waiting list.

It's really the struggle

”.

Because in addition to hospitals and a few pharmacies, cities and counties have also opened their mega vaccination centers.

They plan to have four eventually.

Stephen Williams heads the Houston Health Department: “

We would like them to be able to dispense 1,000 doses per day of the week, and 3,000 on Saturdays.

But we know that we will not have such quantities for a long time.

 "

70,000 people are already on the waiting list just for the centers in this county, when it would be necessary to be able to vaccinate 50,000 people per day to achieve collective immunity by August.
