Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Saxony-Anhalt is still looking for simple and reliable rapid tests for schoolchildren.

Education Minister Marco Tullner (CDU) announced a comprehensive test concept in the state parliament on Thursday as soon as suitable tests are available.

So far, he is not aware of any test that is both meaningful and so easy to use that children and young people can do it themselves.

At the end of last year, the country had already distributed 40,000 free rapid tests for staff in schools and daycare centers.

However, the teachers are not allowed to test the students for various reasons, said Tullner.

For the staff, however, there should be quick tests again from March.

From March 1st, after weeks of emergency Corona operation, the schools should slowly reopen for face-to-face teaching.

Primary and special school students in districts with fewer than 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week should then go to school every day.

Older students should first be taught in an alternating model.
