The increasing demand for the Russian vaccine ... and Moscow is increasing production

Russia announced that it will increase production of its "Sputnik-V" vaccine against the emerging corona virus (Covid-19), a day after the encouraging results of this vaccine were published in the scientific journal "The Lancet", and the global demand for the vaccine approved by 17 countries other than Russia has increased.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during a press conference today, Wednesday: "In the near future, we intend to start production in foreign countries to meet the increasing demand for the vaccine in more countries."

Results published yesterday by the "Lancet" medical journal and approved by independent experts showed that the Russian "Sputnik-V" vaccine is 91.6% effective against symptomatic Covid-19.

These first results whose effectiveness has been validated are in line with Russia's assertions that the international scientific community received last fall.

Instead of producing all of the vaccine inside Russia and exporting some later, Moscow wants to develop production partnerships abroad.

Currently, Kazakhstan, India, South Korea and Brazil produce Sputnik-V, and Russia has also started procedures for obtaining approval from the European Medicines Agency.
