Taiwan's vaccine procurement "unideological"?

I do not believe!

The "mysterious operation" of the stand authorities...

  Author: Benedict Tong

A few days ago, Taiwan media reported that Taiwan had obtained more than 100,000 COVID-19 vaccines through the hands of the United States and will give priority to medical staff in Taoyuan, which invigorated the island community for a while.

However, the "Pandemic Epidemic Command Center" of the Taiwan authorities hurriedly came out to deny the message and made it clear that no vaccine will be introduced to Taiwan in the near future.

With the spread of the global new crown epidemic, vaccines have been rushed around the world and vaccination has been accelerated.

However, the Taiwan authorities, which have been chanting "advance deployment", are far behind in vaccine procurement. What is the cause?

Taiwan’s former official of the foreign affairs department believes that “it is the ruling party’s ideology that is causing trouble.”

However, in response to Jie Wenji's statement, Chen Shizhong, the person in charge of the "Pandemic Epidemic Command Center", denies: "We can criticize our negotiating skills for poor negotiation skills or high requirements for vaccine candidates, but ideology is far away."

"No ideology" in Taiwan's vaccine procurement?

Let's take a look at the "mysterious operation" of the Taiwan authorities:

Mainland China vaccine, Taiwan don't!

As vaccines from mainland China are successively launched globally, whether to introduce related products has sparked heated discussions in Taiwan.

However, the Taiwan authorities declared that "if you want to import vaccines from the mainland, you need to consider revising relevant regulations, and such conditions are in the absence of candidate vaccines."

In other words, unless there is no vaccine available, the mainland vaccine is not considered.

What is even more exaggerated is that the Taiwan authorities continue to spread rumors and discredit.

Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Commission said without shame: "Don't regard the people of Taiwan as the test products for vaccine trials."

The Internet community on the island also concocted rumors such as "the new crown vaccine will change the patient's genes" and "it is forced to vaccinate Taiwanese businessmen in mainland China."

  What is the fact?

Since the mainland officially launched the new crown vaccination for key populations on December 15 last year, as of January 20, a total of 15 million vaccinations have been carried out.

More than 40 countries have put forward the need to import the mainland new crown vaccine, and some have approved the use of the mainland new crown vaccine.

The good safety of China's new crown vaccine has been fully proven.

"The same treatment of vaccination makes us very warm!" "Thank you so much for taking care of our Taiwan compatriots' needs!" "Voluntary free vaccination, we feel that'two sides of the strait are one family'!" ...Fujian, Guangxi and other places have been vaccinated The Taiwanese compatriots of the vaccine expressed their hearts.

It is understandable that the DPP authorities "jumped their feet".

In the political discourse they have been constructing, the mainland's measures to benefit Taiwan are "sugar-coated cannonballs", the direct cross-strait flights are "trojan horse massacres", mainland TV dramas and books will "brainwash", and the mainland vaccine must of course be poison.

As long as things related to the mainland appear, they are like enemies.

People don't give vaccines in Europe and America!

Don’t want a vaccine from the mainland, the Taiwan authorities can only "pitifully" buy them from European and American countries.

Currently, the European and American new crown pneumonia vaccines that have been marketed mainly include Pfizer (BNT, jointly developed by the United States and Germany), Modena (United States), AstraZeneca (AZ, a joint venture between the United Kingdom and Sweden), etc.

The Asian agent of Pfizer Vaccine is Shanghai Fosun, and Shanghai Fosun has invested and participated in the experimental phase.

The Taiwan authorities think it has a "land capital" color and is related to the mainland. How can it be?

There are reports that Taiwan wants to skip Shanghai Fosun and negotiate directly with Pfizer. The difficulty is not low unless there is another way to obtain a small amount of vaccine from the United States.

The question is...will the United States give it?

In August last year, the then U.S. Secretary of Health and Welfare Azhar clearly responded in Taiwan, "In the future, it will be given priority to the country. Once it can meet the domestic needs of the United States, it will also be provided to the international community in a fair manner."

Taiwan wants to get a vaccine?

Wait until the United States runs out.

Wait, why is this scene so familiar?

The Taiwan authorities later used "Laizhu" imports in exchange for anti-dumping duties on tires. Isn't it also a drama?

U.S. vaccines are not available, can you always buy from Europe?

Unexpectedly, the EU directly offered vaccine "export control".

The authorities are dumbfounded. What can I do with the bulls that have been blown out?

On the one hand, we have to criticize the "big countries overbuying" and "the World Health Organization is not strong enough", and on the other hand, "the Taiwanese do not have the urgency of vaccination".

Taiwan vaccine cannot be developed!

Someone may ask, if neither of these two roads work, why not develop a vaccine on its own?

Let alone, Taiwan is also doing research and development, but this efficiency...

According to Taiwan media reports, there are currently three research institutions, namely "high-end", "Lianya" and "Guoguang", which are actively conducting human clinical trials of candidate local vaccines.

Chen Shizhong said that the local vaccine may come out between June and August this year, and it will take some time before it reaches mass production.

What should I do if the vaccine does not come out late?

The Taiwan authorities are considering replacing them with TSMC chips.

According to media reports, the head of the economic affairs department of the Taiwan authorities stated that they will expand chip production and hope that European countries will "provide assistance as much as possible."

In response, Sun Daqian, the former public opinion representative of the Chinese Kuomintang, stated on social media that “the DPP authorities boast about'Taiwan can help' every day, but now when'Taiwan needs help' (Taiwan needs help), why? No one can help' (no one wants to help)?"

It seems that the time when the people of Taiwan can get the new crown vaccine is still far away.

In this regard, if Taiwan’s vaccine procurement "has no ideology," will Taiwan compatriots believe it?

I hope that the Taiwan authorities can, as the spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council Zhu Fenglian said, "from a scientific and professional perspective, sincerely protect the health and well-being of the people of Taiwan."
