04 February 2021 South Tyrol from Monday 8 to Sunday 28 February will be in hard lockdown, following the worrying situation linked to the infections from Covid-19.

This was decided this evening by the provincial government composed of members of the Suedtiroler Volkspartei and Lega.

Closed shops, distance learning in schools and a ban on moving from one's municipality are the measures that will be taken to contain the growing epidemic.

The new package of restrictions provides for a general ban on moving from the municipality of residence except for reasons of work, health or urgent need.

Bars and restaurants will continue to be closed and the accommodation facilities will also have to close.

Shutters lowered for most of the shops while manufacturing and artisan companies will be able to work, but on condition that their collaborators are subjected to regular tests.

As regards education, from next Monday all middle schools and high schools will return to distance learning for 100% of the teaching hours.

The usual Carnival holidays are scheduled in South Tyrol from 13 to 21 February.

Well, as far as elementary schools are concerned, the distance lessons will start on Wednesday 10 February.

After the holiday week, lessons will return to both elementary and middle schools.

Early childhood and face-to-face assistance for nursery schools remains guaranteed.
