Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In the discussion about the sequence of vaccinations in North Rhine-Westphalia, the school management association is urging that the staff in daycare centers and schools be vaccinated soon.

Family Minister Joachim Stamp (FDP) had requested priority corona vaccinations for employees in daycare centers and schools as soon as the vaccine from Astrazeneca was approved.

The School Management Association (SLV) welcomed this in a message on Thursday.

Now it is hoped that there will be increased pressure to act on School Minister Yvonne Gebauer (FDP).

"Anyone who wants to open schools and daycare centers in order to give our children the best possible access to education in a timely manner and to relieve the burden on parents must also fulfill their duty of care towards the employees in these facilities," said the SLV state chairman Harald Willert.

"With the Astrazeneca product, a vaccine that is precisely tailored to the affected age groups is available."

The corona vaccine from the British-Swedish manufacturer Astrazeneca was approved by the EU Commission in the European Union last Friday.

In Germany, it should only be given to those under 65.
