Four months before the regional elections, La République en Marche must appoint this Friday two new "leaders" for Hauts-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

LaREM is moving cautiously: she has little chance of winning a region and must solve puzzles in multiple locations.

Secretary of State Laurent Pietraszewski in Hauts-de-France and deputy Bruno Bonnell in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes will according to our information be designated this Friday as “leaders” of the presidential party for the regions.

But beware "leader" in Macronist language does not mean that they will be at the end of the list.

Because La République en Marche must come to an agreement with the three other parties of the majority.

And it's not always easy to get along, even with friends.

In Ile-de-France for example, the withdrawal of the Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer whets the appetites of the Modem.

But above all, where nothing is settled, it is in the regions where the National Rally (RN) is strong.

The majority will not present lists everywhere.

She is ready to make agreements with outgoing right-wing regional presidents deemed Macron-compatible, but nothing has been done yet and the recent virulent criticisms of certain elected officials against the government are not making things any easier.

And then, there is the particular case of Hauts-de-France.

Despite the risk of the far right, the presidential party does not intend to line up behind the outgoing Xavier Bertrand, he who is a possible opponent of Emmanuel Macron in the next presidential election.
