Hamburg (dpa) - The conference of the state music councils of Germany has asked the state governments to allow rehearsals in amateur music again when the lockdown is relaxed.

"Choirs, wind orchestras and music associations of all kinds are able to work out hygiene concepts and distance rules in such a way that corona-compliant rehearsals are possible," said the appeal on Thursday, which the Hamburg State Music Council had also sent.

And: "It's not about spending your free time here, but about cultural articulation and identity formation."

Samples in the amateur area are currently prohibited in most federal states due to the corona pandemic.

According to the information, around nine million people in Germany play an instrument and there are around 60,000 choirs.
