The furniture in the Nest was original to say the least.

Notice to design lovers and nostalgic for an emblematic Nantes establishment.

This Thursday afternoon, the Nantes auctions Talma auction house, Saint-Donatien district, will offer for sale around fifty lots of furniture and decorative items from the Le Nid terrace bar.

Located on the 32nd and last floor of the Tour Bretagne, this panoramic bar, despite its popularity, had to close its doors for good after eight years of activity due to the heavy work involved in the building.

“There was a real public attachment to this place,” says Eric Warin, director of the CCO, operator of the Nest.

It had become one of the most visited in the city [300,000 visits per year].

Its closure, like that of the tower, therefore hurt my heart.

But it was impossible to transfer it elsewhere.

The circumstances we are living today allow us to put things into perspective.

Eggs, beak, eyes, posters

Made at the request of the Voyage à Nantes, the Nest stood out for its decoration by the artist Jean Jullien.

It is to him that we owe the chairs and tables in the shape of eggs.

No less than 80 units will go on sale this Thursday.

Obviously a little worn, the four leather interior armchairs with their coffee table are, for example, estimated between 400 and 600 euros per lot.

“We kept some elements for us and Jean Jullien as memories.

But we had to give up most of it for lack of space to store them.

The proceeds will be used to reduce moving costs, ”explains Eric Warin.

The set of four armchairs and a coffee table was estimated between 400 and 600 euros.

The long polyurethane bird that adorned the contours of the bar was destroyed during dismantling at the end of October.

“It was a unique, fragile piece, made to measure for the place.

We couldn't save her.

Only his long beak and his eyes could be preserved.

They too will be auctioned off.

Just like many posters, representing the symbols of Nantes, illustrated by Jean Jullien.

The giant bird of the Nest was destroyed during its dismantling.

“I hope this sale will be popular.

The dispersal will make it possible to find a little bit of the Nest among the inhabitants, in institutions, perhaps in businesses.

It's a good thing that the story ends like this, ”reacts Eric Warin.

Buyers shouldn't be missed too much.

"There is a serious enthusiasm for these lots," we confirm at the Talma auction house.

Many people expressed their interest, especially during the presentation on Wednesday.

»* The auction, which starts at 2 p.m., will take place both in person and online.
