Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - According to surveys by health insurance companies, employees in Baden-Württemberg had less sick leave in the Corona year 2020 than elsewhere in Germany.

In the southwest, workers would have been absent from work for an average of 12.3 days per person due to illness, the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) announced on Thursday.

That is almost three days less than the national average.

The DAK comes to similar conclusions: In Baden-Württemberg there were just under 1260 days of absence per 100 insured persons - about 240 fewer than the national average.

Even compared to the previous year - when the corona pandemic had not yet reached Germany - the sickness rate in Baden-Württemberg fell slightly according to the health insurance data.

One reason is probably that the hygiene measures to contain the pandemic also prevented the transmission of other diseases, said Siegfried Euerle, Head of Health at the DAK Baden-Württemberg.

According to data from the AOK, colds in particular were diagnosed significantly less often among employees in the country.

In the case of infections of the lower respiratory tract, the proportion measured by the incapacity for work decreased by 44 percent compared to previous years, and in the case of infections of the upper respiratory tract by 13 percent.

However, the month of December has not yet been factored in.
