The detained Russian dissident, Alexei Navalny, called for the liberation of Russia from what he described as its thieving rulers, calling on his citizens not to fear, after the authorities suppressed the demonstrations that took place recently and arrested thousands during them.

"They can stay in power and use it for personal enrichment relying solely on our fear," Navalny, 44, wrote in a post this afternoon, Thursday, on his Instagram account. "But we, by overcoming this fear, can liberate our homeland." From the gang of thieves that occupy it. "

In the same post, he said that he feels he is a free man despite his presence in the cell, and is confident that he is right.

Navalny addressed his supporters on social media after a series of protests that followed his arrest and imprisonment, and the United States, the European Union and Britain demanded his release.

But Russia refused this, and condemned what it considered interference in its internal affairs.

On Tuesday, a Moscow court ruled that the prominent Russian dissident was imprisoned for 3 and a half years, after he was found guilty of violating the terms of a previous suspended prison sentence, and according to his lawyer, Navalny will spend 32 months in prison.

The man was arrested on January 17 after his return from Germany, where he stayed for months for treatment and convalescence, after being poisoned last summer by "Novichok" gas, which was produced in the Soviet era.

Shortly after Navalny's arrest last month, the Russian Anti-Corruption Center, headed by the Russian opposition, released an investigative film entitled "Putin's Palace," which talks about the alleged corruption of Russian President Vladimir Putin, his narrow circle, and the influence of his relatives.

The movie, which has been watched by more than 100 million people on YouTube, talks about the details of a palace that the investigation says belongs to Putin in the resort of "Gelendik" on the Black Sea (south of the country), and its cost reached 1.3 billion dollars;

But the Kremlin denied the investigation and accused Navalny of serving foreign agendas.
