As specified in the document, the Council of Europe has moved to the second phase of the project "Criminal justice system in Ukraine, in line with the principles of human rights."

"In the project's boundaries

the assistance of a large network of consultants with knowledge of international and European standards and various European systems (consultants on international issues) and consultants with experience / knowledge of the domestic system (consultants on internal issues) will be involved, ”the text says.

It is planned to involve up to 65 specialists in the initiative.

They will have to improve the efficiency of the Ukrainian prosecutor's office in accordance with the standards of the Council of Europe, train lawyers, proofread legal documents and conduct sociological research.

For these purposes, no more than € 130,000 will be allocated.

As explained in the Council of Europe, the organization has “successfully helped” Ukraine over the past years, including in matters of reforming the criminal justice system.

However, according to the Council of Europe, Kiev still has to resolve a number of problems associated, for example, with the investigation of deaths, the length of the criminal proceedings and the independence of the prosecutor's office.

In September 2019, it was announced the start of a Council of Europe project aimed at changing the criminal justice system in Ukraine.

It was planned to allocate € 1 million for the implementation.
