Kiel (dpa / lno) - The SPD has accused the Jamaica coalition of too little commitment to the climate check of new laws and regulations in Schleswig-Holstein.

It was more than a year ago that the state parliament passed a climate check for laws, ordinances and subsidies at the request of the coalition, said the SPD environmental politician Thomas Hölck of the German press agency.

"Unfortunately, we now have to state that nothing has happened so far."

In November 2019, with the exception of the AfD, all parliamentary groups in the state parliament voted in favor of always subjecting all laws and regulations to a climate check in the future.

All draft regulations relevant to climate protection should be checked by the state government for compatibility with the state's climate protection goals.

The aim of the resolution was to reduce CO2 emissions in order to achieve the Paris climate protection goals.

In response to a small question from Hölck, however, the state government announced that in the future an electronic tool should carry out a corresponding sustainability check - but only from the fourth quarter of 2021. “Whoever knows the lead times for legislative proposals on the government side is hardly necessary interpret disguised refusal to work, ”said Hölck.

"Nobody can tell me that a self-proclaimed government of ecological awakening needs two years and has to wait for an electronic tool to assess the ecological footprint of its legislative proposals."

Conversely, by referring to the tool, the coalition admits “having no idea what its own laws mean ecologically”, said Hölck.

In the last few months before the state elections in 2022, no more major legislative proposals are expected.

Then the election campaign had long since started.

Schleswig-Holstein will elect a new state parliament in spring 2022.
