The date for the next municipal council in Sölvesborg is on Monday 8 February.

But the largest party, the Social Democrats, previously flagged to stay at home.

The party referred to the spread of the infection and demanded that all members should be able to choose for themselves whether they want to attend digitally or physically.

They also threatened not to attend the municipal council if the governing bodies in Sölvesborg did not meet the requirement.

Distance meeting on trial

On Wednesday, the municipal council in Sölvesborg gathered for a distance meeting on a test to test newly purchased digital equipment.

Now on Thursday afternoon, the parties agreed.

- We have agreed that everyone should be able to participate digitally or physically.

You can not exclude someone who wants to be physically involved.

But I think most people will be involved digitally, says Opposition Councilor Johanna Beijer (S).

Fewer participants

The background to the disagreement is that the municipal council in Sölvesborg has had a smaller number of participants for almost a year now - 26 instead of 49. The reason is to reduce the risk of infection spreading.

The reduction in the number of members has been done in such a way that the political balance of power has been maintained through so-called set-off.

But in January, the Social Democrats thought that was enough and tore up the agreement.

That was when the party demanded that all members be able to participate - and choose for themselves whether they want to attend digitally or physically.

They thus added that they will not be absent from the municipal council unless the governing body in Sölvesborg meets the requirement.

But on Monday, there will be a council with all parties after the conflict was blown off.

SVT Nyheter Blekinge has also sought the chairman of the City Council Arne Bogren (M) for a comment.
