Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - From next week, the corona vaccine from the manufacturer Astrazeneca will also be vaccinated in Baden-Württemberg.

A first delivery of 48,000 doses of the vaccine is expected on Saturday, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health told the German press agency on Thursday.

In the following days, the vaccine should then be inoculated at the respective locations.

The vaccine from the British-Swedish manufacturer Astrazeneca is the third corona vaccine approved in the EU, alongside the vaccines from Biontech / Pfizer and Moderna.

Unlike the other two vaccines, according to the recommendation of the Standing Vaccination Commission, it should initially only be injected into adults under 65 years of age.

The federal government plans to adapt the vaccination ordinance accordingly.

The Southwest last received 105,300 doses of the Biontech / Pfizer vaccine in early February, and a further 99,450 doses will follow on February 8th and 9th, according to the ministry.

The country received 12,000 doses of vaccine from Moderna on February 1, and the country expects a further 24,000 doses by mid-February, the spokesman said.
